HMPWK-FT Unismuh Makassar Holds: Drone-Based Geospatial Skill Enhancement, to Support SDGs 9.

TEKNIK.UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Student Association of Regional and Urban Planning, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (HMPWK-FT Unismuh Makassar), once again presents activities to develop student capacity through a program entitled "Drone-Based Geospatial Skill Enhancement." The event carries the theme "Optimizing the Use of Technology as a Form of Strengthening Student Capacity in Achieving SDGs 9."

The event, which took place on Friday, September 26, 2025, on the 3rd floor of the Iqra Tower, Unismuh Makassar, featured Ichsan Caesar Pratama, ST, a young planner and founder of NAGARA, as a speaker. The discussion was moderated by Ahmad Algazali, a member of the HMPWK-FT Human Resources Department, who acted as a moderator.

In his presentation, Ichsan Caesar Pratama emphasized the importance of mastering drone technology in the field of regional and urban planning. According to him, students' ability to read, map, and analyze spatial data will be a major asset in supporting sustainable development. "Mastering drone technology not only enriches students' technical skills, but also provides a real contribution to achieving SDGs, especially point 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Students must be ready to be a generation that is adaptive to technological developments," said the speaker.

Meanwhile, moderator Ahmad Algazali conveyed that the event is expected to open up new insights for students to better understand the role of geospatial technology. "We hope that participants will not only see drones as a documentation tool, but also as an important instrument in research, mapping, and construction planning. This is an opportunity to learn directly from experienced practitioners," said Ahmad.

The chairman of HMPWK-FT, Muh. Farhan, also added that the program is one of the forms of commitment by the organization to provide additional learning opportunities for students. Hopefully, students can be better prepared to face the challenges in the world of work and contribute to sustainable development.

The interactive event emphasized the role of student organizations as a driving force in developing self-capacity. With training like this, students are expected not only to excel academically, but also to have relevant practical skills that meet the needs of the times.
