Unismuh Engineering Department Faculty Team Ready to Support SMP Revitalization in South Sulawesi

TEKNIK.UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR— The Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh), has dispatched a team to support the implementation of the 2025 Primary School Revitalization Program in South Sulawesi Province. This program is a collaboration between the Directorate of Primary Schools, the Ministry of Education, and selected universities, acting as self-managing implementers.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Muhammad Syafaat S. Kuba, ST., MT., has been appointed as the Head of the Self-Managing Implementation Team. He will lead all activities, from developing the work plan, field monitoring, to reporting the revitalization program, which includes the rehabilitation of primary schools in South Sulawesi.

Two senior lecturers, Dr. Ir. Andi Makbul Syamsuri, ST., MT., IPM., and Ir. M. Agusalim, ST., MT., will act as field coordinators. They have a long track record in civil engineering and construction management, and will be responsible for coordinating 16 facilitators, consisting of lecturers and final-year students from the Civil Engineering and Architecture programs.

According to the Directorate of Primary Schools' Work Plan (KAK) document, the Unismuh team will be responsible for reviewing technical documents, monitoring physical progress in schools, and providing recommendations for resolving various field challenges.

The team will also conduct technical training for School Development Committees (P2SP) and assist in ensuring that the implementation complies with the approved budget, work drawings, and S-curves.

The program is scheduled to run for six months, from July to December 2025. During this period, the Unismuh Faculty of Engineering team will actively provide support in 62 primary schools in 11 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi, including Makassar, Gowa, Maros, Jeneponto, and Selayar.

The total budget for the entire program is IDR 1.4 billion. By directly involving students, Unismuh not only contributes to the transformation of basic education but also provides practical experience for future generations of engineers. "This aligns with the Four Purposes of Muhammadiyah University," added Coordinator of Team 1, Dr. Andi Makbul Syamsuri.
