HME-FT Unismuh Makassar to Host RELAY: Education and Advocacy Space.

TEKNIK.UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME-FT) of Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar, held a RELAY (Educational and Advocacy Space) themed "The Concept of Self as a Functional Institution." The event took place on the 3rd floor of the Iqra Tower, Unismuh Makassar, Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 16:00 to the end.

HME-FT organized this activity to strengthen the concept of self and professionalism among student association officers/members, enabling them to provide quick, courteous, and effective advocacy services to students.

The event was attended by dozens of HME-FT students and representatives from student organizations within the Faculty of Engineering. They included active officers, new functional members, and students interested in advocacy and student services.

The RELAY event featured speakers: Fatur Rahman (Outgoing Chairman of HME-FT, 2020–2021 period) and Muh. Luthfi as the host (Secretary of Advocacy, HME-FT, 2024–2025 period).

"Officers must have a strong self-concept so that every advocacy service starts from values, ethics, and data, not just opinions," explained speaker, Fatur Rahman.

In addition to discussing the development of service standards, the speakers also shared best practices for resolving academic-administrative complaints, empathetic communication techniques, and how to build case documentation to facilitate follow-up across units.

Finally, HME-FT emphasized three key messages for functional members: (1) integrity in every advocacy process, (2) campus regulation literacy to ensure accurate solutions, and (3) collaboration with study programs, faculties, and other student organizations to expand the impact of services.
