Unismuh Makassar Faculty of Engineering Holds AIM ASEAN Seminar: Building an Economy Through Entrepreneurship and Technology Collaboration.

TEKNIK.UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, in collaboration with AIM ASEAN and Kaizen Collaborative Impact, will hold a seminar entitled "Building the Economy Through Entrepreneurial and Technological Collaboration" with the subtheme "Practical Steps to Start a Business with AI", on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Faculty of Engineering, Unismuh Makassar.

In his opening remarks, Ir. Muhammad Syafaat S. Kuba, S.T., M.T., emphasized the importance of collaboration between the academic, business, and government sectors in building an adaptive entrepreneurial ecosystem in response to technological advancements. "Engineering students must start thinking visionarily and innovatively. Today's world needs graduates who not only master theory but also create opportunities through technology and entrepreneurship," he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. H. Syamsu Rizal, M.I., S.Sos., M.Si., also known as Deng Ical, appreciated Unismuh Makassar's efforts to encourage students to be entrepreneurial. He emphasized that national economic development requires the active role of young people who have high innovative and social awareness. "Young people must be courageous to start. The business world is not only about profit, but also about social impact and sustainability," he stated.

As the main speaker, Ismita Saputri from Kaizen Collaborative Impact explained how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a catalyst in creating new business opportunities in the digital age. She also provided a brief training on the application of AI in market research, business management, and digital marketing.

The event was enthusiastically received by students from various engineering programs. Through the seminar, participants gained insights into how the synergy between technology, creativity, and entrepreneurship can be the main foundation in creating economic independence.

The seminar is a testament to the commitment of the Faculty of Engineering, Unismuh Makassar, to encourage the development of soft skills and entrepreneurial spirit among students, in line with the vision of Unismuh Makassar as an Islamic, excellent, and progressive university. Accompanied by Muhammad Iqbal Gunawan, AIM ASEAN Master Trainer, participants were invited to understand how to practically utilize technology to build competitive startup businesses on a global scale.

In closing, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Muhammad Syafaat S. Kuba, S.T., M.T., delivered an inspiring message to the students: "We want all students at Unismuh to not only be job seekers, but also job creators. Through collaboration and the use of technology, we can together build a competitive and just national economy."
