Unismuh Engineering Faculty Collaboration in Research and Development with Two Malaysian Universities
The University of Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar is intensifying its collaboration with foreign universities. This collaboration includes the development of Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (University Dharma), namely education, research, and community service, as well as the guidance of Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan to support Unismuh in achieving excellence.
One form of this collaboration is in the form of the International Collaboration On Child – Friendly Environment (CFE) Workshop, Research, And Community Development. This activity is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering of Unismuh Makassar with the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) and the University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).
The opening ceremony was held at the Balai Sidang Muktamar, Unismuh Campus, Jl Sultan Alauddin, on Monday, September 19, 2022.
The International Collaboration in this workshop was attended by 4 Malaysian researchers, namely Prof Dr Ismail bin Said, Dr Siti Rahmah Omar and Dr Janatun Naim Yusuf (all of whom are researchers from UTM) and Dr Wan Azlina Wan Ismail, a researcher from the University of Malaysia Kelantan.
During this event, the signing of the MoU between Unismuh and the Mayor of Makassar, Ramdhan Pomanto, will also take place. The signing of the MoU was accompanied by a banquet dinner at the mayor's house on Monday evening, September 19, 2022.
The Rector of Unismuh Makassar, Prof. Ambo Asse, who opened the event, said that although the event was officially opened on Monday, September 19, 2022, the International Collaboration between Unismuh and the two Malaysian universities had already started on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
According to Prof. Ambo, international collaboration is very important as an indicator of good performance at the faculty and university level.
The collaboration between Unismuh and the University of Malaysia Technology and the University of Malaysia Klantan has been facilitated by the Lembaga Pengembangan Bahasa, Kerjasama, dan Urusan Internasional (LPBKUI) of Unismuh.
To the Faculty of Engineering of Unismuh, Prof. Ambo hopes that international collaboration will continue to be improved in efforts to develop human resources, both lecturers and students.
Regarding the collaboration in developing tourist alleys with the Makassar City Government, Ambo Asse mentioned that the progress of the alleys is very important for the development of the city.
According to this Nakhoda of Unismuh, the participation of universities is very important in the development of Makassar, especially in the future Balitbangda Kota Makassar will be changed into a Research and Information Body. "We hope that LP3M and Balitbangsa can collaborate even further," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the BPH of Unismuh, Prof. Gagaring Pagalung, in his speech said. International Collaboration with UTM and UMK is a mutually beneficial and advancing collaboration for all parties.
Prof. Gagaring welcomed this collaboration and hoped that it would be successful in future research and community service activities.
This professor hopes that the collaboration with the Malaysian universities will not only be in the field of education and research but also in the development of community service.
The Mayor of Makassar, Ir H. Ramdhan Pomanto, in his written speech read by the Head of the City Research and Community Development Agency (Balitbangda) of Makassar, Andi Bukti Jufrie, said that Unismuh Makassar is one of the leading, excellent, trusted, and independent Islamic universities, which will provide a lot of contribution and is very needed in building Makassar City.
Following the previous meeting between the Makassar City Government and Unismuh, the Makassar City Government highly appreciates Unismuh's hope to collaborate in building Makassar City as a representation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Education, Research and Community Service as well as guidance of Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan.
Moving forward, Mayor Ramdhan Pomanto will conduct many synergies and collaborations with Unismuh in conducting research, both regional, national, and international research.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Unismuh, Dr. Nurnawaty, reported that the International Workshop, Research, and Community Development with UTM, UMK and Unismuh will take place for 5 days and has already started since Sunday, September 18, 2022 to Friday, September 23, 2022.
The event was attended by representatives of the rectors, deans, deans, heads of institutions and offices of Unismuh Makassar.
