Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Teguh Iswara Suardi, Attends the Inauguration of the Faculty of Engineering, Unismuh Makassar, Student Organization Officials

**TEKNIK.UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR** — Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the 2nd Constituency of South Sulawesi, Teguh Iswara Suardi, attended the Grand Inauguration of the Management of the Student Organizations of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar, which was also accompanied by an Institutional Dialogue and Engineering Symposium, at the Muktamar-47 Conference Hall of Unismuh Campus, Sultan Alauddin Street 259, Makassar, Monday, June 16, 2025.

Teguh Iswara Suardi, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the NasDem Party, was present in his capacity as the Chairman of the Young Engineers Forum (FIM) of South Sulawesi for the period 2024-2027.

Six student organizations were inaugurated in the event, which carried the theme: "Technology, Infrastructure and Environment: Balancing Development and Conservation."

The 6 organizations are: The Faculty of Engineering Student Union (BEM FT, Chairman Andi Rama Ramadhan), The Civil Engineering Student Association (HMS FT, Chairman Ashabul Kahfi), The Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME FT, Chairman Firdaus Alam).

The Faculty of Engineering Student Association (HMA FT, Farhat Hidayat), The Faculty of Engineering Informatics Student Association (HMIF FT, Chairman Ahmad Nur Rahman), and The Faculty of Engineering Urban Planning Student Association (HMPWK FT, Chairman Farhan).

In addition to the 6 student organizations, the Forum of Student Members of the Indonesian Institute of Engineers (FAM PII) of Unismuh Makassar was also formed, with Chairman Ir Yusuf Syarif MT, Secretary Fayyad Fauzi, and Treasurer Rifky Arramadana.

The Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering, Unismuh Makassar, Ir Fauzan Hamdi ST MT, in his speech, emphasized the importance of the role of management of student organizations as an example for all students.

"The management of student organizations must be an example of good academic behavior, as well as demonstrate high integrity and dedication in carrying out their duties," said Fauzan.

He also encouraged the new managers to think creatively and innovatively in formulating and implementing work programs. He hoped that all activities designed would not only have an impact at the internal campus level, but also support the achievement of institutional accreditation.

"Student organizations must be able to become a forum for developing professional expertise based on engineering knowledge. The orientation is not just local, but must already target national and international standards," said Fauzan.

The Chairman of the Faculty of Engineering BEM, Andi Rama Ramadhan, in his speech, said that the inauguration moment is a good start to strengthen collaboration between all elements, both students, lecturers, and external partners.

This collaboration is expected to produce innovative and real contributions for the advancement of the Faculty of Engineering.

The presence of the Forum of Student Members of the Indonesian Institute of Engineers (FAM PII) of Unismuh Makassar, said Rama Ramadhan, is a great hope for all students in the Faculty of Engineering.

"FAM PII can be a strategic forum to forge experience, expand relationships, and build a better future, both academically and professionally," said Rama Ramadhan.

The Engineering Symposium, which was also held as part of the inauguration of student organization management, is also an important moment.

"Through this forum, we hope to formulate solutions to various development and environmental conservation challenges that are currently faced in Indonesia. Hopefully, this activity will be an initial and sustainable contribution for national development," said Rama Ramadhan.
